The best time to take photographs in the cathedral is early morning, before the tourists wake up. tharmenra: Whats with all the hype about canon 40mm f/2.8, its not as good as people say. I own canon 7D with 18-135mm lens, i bought pancake few days back, though i like its built quality, i m not satisfied with its performance, my old 18-135 produces far better in image quality than pancake. it all happened yesterday i was out with my friend to take some photos, i first tried with 40mm to Have you tried face detect AF? It works great with the 40 2.8 STM on both my Sony's and my M4/3 GX7. Neil, I have the EF 40/2.8 and the EFS 55-250 f/4-5.6 IS lens. I was planning to adapt these, either to my NEX-7/ NEX-5R, or my E-M10, and need to keep the price of the adapter at a reasonable level. You might also consider the EF 40mm f/2.8 which will be more or less equivalent to a native 30 mm f/2. There are some Canon EF mount lenses that play very well when electronically adapted - this includes the 40/2.8 Pancake, the 50/1.8 STM and the 100/2.8L Macro. There are others but these are a good start for “all sweetness and light”. Another cool idea is the 35mm f/2, that gives us an APS-C 24mm f/1.4 IS! But that's not a small combo, but still lots more functionality for a video shootse vs the non stabilized f2 native prime. Shallower DOF and not using the resolution wrecking Warp Stabilizer. I wonder how well an 85mm f/1.4 IS L would work as an APS-C 50mm f0.95 IS prime! The 24 pancake is beautiful. It’s wider than your 40. You’ll love it. The 24mm F2.8 was my favourite lens for canon APSC. It’s beautifully sharp wide open and gives a great perspective for environmental portraits. I eventually sold my 18-55 and 40mm F2.8 and just used the 24mm F2.8 and 50mm F1.8 for everything. photo size: medium 640 new. Canon 24mm F2.8 STM EF-S. recent. interesting. random. ctadlockphoto: So Canon just announced their new 24mm 2.8 prime for APS-C cameras. I, for one, and super excited as this will perfectly complement my 50 2.5 macro and the 85 1.8 that I am planning to get very soon. But I want to hear all of your thoughts. Canon already has a 24 2.8 out. So: is this overkill? Is it pointless because its ef-s? Are you excited? Are you not? Weigh in down below
Unlike its cousins (Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM (APS-C) and EF 40mm f/2.8 STM (Full Format)), it sticks to the field of view of a classic "35mm" lens (22mm * 1.6x) so it's still wide enough for many applications - especially street photography. The combo with the Canon EOS M3 is also super compact making it a take-me-everywhere option - almost at
